What Did God’s Self-Revelation In History Reveal About His Eternality? What is His Personal Name? Should Followers of Yeshua Make a Practice of Saying It?
According to the Shema and the Bible as a whole, New Covenant Jews and Gentiles are to fully affirm and celebrate the truth that the LORD God is (echad) one. And because God is one, He is the God of Israel and the Gentile Nations. Many are rediscovering today that God has a personal Name. Examples of a personal name would be Abraham or Sarah. So what is God’s personal Name that is found in the Hebrew Bible pretty close to 7,000 times? To first clarify, it is true that He has many ‘names’ in the Bible which describe who He is and how He acts, such as El Shaddai. Yet, the eternal God, the I AM, also has a proper personal Name. A Name that distinguishes Him from all others in heaven and on earth. It is a four-letter Hebrew Name.
