New Year’s eve in Israel is generally fairly quiet. Compared to the rest of the world, the celebrations are few. It is not a national holiday here and work and school continues as usual. Our New Year is celebrated on Rosh Hashana which is the first of the Fall Feasts. It is easy to even forget that this is a huge event in most countries!
As I sit in the quiet and think back on 2025, I realize what an incredible year it was. War and hostages dominated our lives and grief, mourning and trauma were constant companions. It felt as if it would never end. But miraculously, it did. Now the skies are quiet, Iran is no longer a nuclear threat, the country is rebuilding and hope is burning brighter.
2026 holds so much promise! The people of Iran are rising up in protest and it is conceivable for the first time since the Islamic revolution that we could see a regime change.
