In physics, potential energy refers to the stored energy an object possesses due to its position or condition — like a boulder perched on a hill, or a stretched bowstring ready to launch an arrow. Because of the gravity pulling on the stone, we know that if given just enough of a push, the boulder would tumble down the mountain with incredible force. But that potential energy does nothing until it is released. Whereas, kinetic energy is energy in motion—it’s the arrow flying, the boulder rolling, the spark igniting the flame. Momentum arises when kinetic energy meets mass and velocity: movement builds upon movement.
In the spiritual life, Adonai has created you with immense potential energy—filled with the promises of God, the calling on your life, and the presence of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). But potential alone isn’t enough. Spiritual momentum comes when we move—when obedience, faith, and intentional action turn potential into power.
