This is such an amazing time in history and it feels as everything is changing at lightening speed! Just days ago the world was rocked by the news of a surprise victory by the Syrian rebels, toppling the totalitarian and oppressive Syrian regime which had been in power for the past 53 years. Assad, a merciless dictator became President after his father’s death and has now fled to Russia where he was granted asylum.
Hezbollah was a significant deterrent against the Syrian rebels, fighting as an Iran proxy to strengthen the government forces. As Israel decimated their fighting strength, it caused them to be so weakened in Syria that the rebels were emboldened to move forward aggressively. Assad was left without needed military support, allowing the rebels to take over the major cities without much resistance.
