Moving forward and drawing closer

The world as we know it is changing. We are living in times filled with many questions, the inability to plan and situations not in our control; all of which may bring us to fear and doubt. We can learn much from the following interaction between Moses and God.

"Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people." And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth." So the Lord said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name." And he said, "Please, show me Your glory." Exodus 33:13-18

Moses is basically saying; if this is not your plan and you do not go with me; I am not going. It takes a certain amount of courage to take that stand before God. We might not dare to do so because of our knowledge that we are less than perfect or that we are not worthy.

However Moses goes on to ask God to show him and to teach him. He does not ask God from a perspective of doubt but the desire to be sure he is going the right way. Moses wants to honor God in all he does. Can we grasp this concept and live like this on a daily basis in all that we do? Can we take the moment to pause and check in with God so to speak?

Yeshua's example of this daily living, a mindset and condition of the heart, can be seen in John 4:31-34. Food is something we need every day. Even though we can do without it sometimes, eventually we want and need to feed our bodies.

This is what Yeshua is saying feeds Him; doing the Will of the Father. Yeshua continually sought God's will for each step. Whether it was direction in which way to go and when, whom to heal, when and where to pray. Are we living a lifestyle where we seek God for His Will in each step we take? Do we concern ourselves with whether our actions are pleasing to Him? Is this the food that feeds us and gives us life?

Yeshua, like Moses, looked toward drawing closer to God. We are living in times not know to most of us before now. Are we learning through this to flow with Him, by His Spirit and not our thoughts? Even though on the one hand we may currently struggle with a sense of losing control in most areas of our lives; we have the opportunity to learn not to build too far ahead. To walk by faith and not by sight.
