These verses (in Jeremiah 30-33) contain some of the greatest Scriptures in the entire Bible. Let's look at a few of them.
Jeremiah 31:30 "Behold, days are coming - it is a declaration of Adonai - I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah"
What? A "new covenant" promised by the Jewish prophet Jeremiah? Yes, God promises that He will write the Torah on our hearts of flesh. Why? So we can forget about it? No! So we can DO it from the heart (remember, "it's a heart thang"). God then promises to forgive our sins and to never forget His promise to receive Israel to Himself. God promises to rebuild Jerusalem and that it will never again be destroyed. We are seeing this fulfilled in our day.
Then in chapter 32, God tells Jeremiah to buy property when it is about to be conquered and taken away. It is a sign that all is not lost, but all will be restored. Jeremiah 32:15 "For thus says Adonai-Tzva'ot, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land."
Chapter 32 also ends with promises for the restoration of Israel. Jeremiah 32:44 "Men will buy fields for money and sign and seal the deeds and call witnesses in the land of Benjamin and in the areas around Jerusalem, and in the towns of Judah, in the towns of the hill-country, in the towns of the foothills, and in the cities of the South—because I will bring them back from exile. It is a declaration of Adonai.
Then finally, (for today) God makes more promises of restoration. Jeremiah 33:6-8 "Indeed, I will bring it health and healing, and I will surely heal them. I will reveal to them an abundance of shalom and truth. I will restore Judah from exile and Israel from exile, and will rebuild them, as in former times. I will also cleanse them from all their iniquity in which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their wrongs in which they have sinned against Me and in which they have rebelled against Me."
Why, you would have to be a moron (said without intending insult to real morons) to believe in replacement theology. God makes His point repeatedly that he will never forget His promises to His people, Israel. Israel will be restored.
Jeremiah 33:11b "For I will restore the land from the exile as it was at first, declares Adonai."
Then (really finally) there is this most amazing Messianic promise.
Jeremiah 33:25-26 "Thus says Adonai: If I have not made My covenant of day and night firm, and the fixed patterns ordering the heavens and earth, only then would I reject the offspring of Jacob, and of My servant David so that I would not take from his offspring rulers over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore them from their exile, and have compassion on them."
