The Upper Room Discourse 35

John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I selected you so that you would go and produce fruit, and your fruit would remain. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.

What a treasure Yeshua spoke in His last hours on earth. He, Himself, was the first to enter into glory.

1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Messiah has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

The grave could not contain Him. Now, Yeshua has entered into His destiny, to show us the way. Mark 16:19 Then the Lord Yeshua, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

In our subject verse today, the first statement Yeshua makes is about being chosen. He chose you. (Pause) Let that sink in for a moment. Use your imagination with me. Everyone is looking good and smelling good at the party. The lights are low and the music is slow.

You're minding your own business sipping on punch when suddenly, Yeshua walks past everyone else in the room and stands in front of you. He holds out His hand and doesn't say a word. He just looks at you with His warm and inviting gaze.

His eyes reflect His pleasure, consistent with the smile on His face. Then softly, He says, "Please dance with Me." You don't even speak to answer. You just rise, melt into His arms and begin to move with Him as the angels sing. He has chosen you.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

To be the Bride of Messiah is every believer's righteous and longed for holy honor. There is a reason Yeshua chose you. Think more about that today. I'll write about it next time.
