Lesson from the Torah

This last week's Torah portion is so poignant (it pricks the heart). We start in Exodus 13:17 as the children of Israel begin the Exodus from Egypt. The Scripture makes it clear each of us must see the Exodus as something we personally have taken part in. God snookers us. And how do we respond? We did what we do best, complain (to Moses, but at God).

Exodus 14:11-12 "They said to Moses, 'Have you taken us away to die in the wilderness because there were no graves in Egypt? Why have you dealt this way with us, to bring us out of Egypt? 12 Did we not say to you in Egypt, "Let us alone, so that we may serve the Egyptians?" It was better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness!'"

What a bunch of "whiners" (pun intended). Moses, meanwhile, is following instructions from God. However; personally, we see in the text that Moses is "winging it."

Exodus 14:13-14 "But Moses said to the people, 'Don't be afraid! Stand still, and see the salvation of Adonai, which He will perform for you today. You have seen the Egyptians today, but you will never see them again, ever! Adonai will fight for you, while you hold your peace.'"

Moses is saying, "I see this is coming to an end. No question we are in a tight spot. Pharaoh and 600 chariots are headed our way with nothing to stop them. I don't know what’s next, but for sure, in the short future, one way or another, your problems and mine will be over. Oh, and since your problems will be over soon, would you do us all a favor and qwitcherbellyakin."

Moses is told to raise his hand while holding his staff and God will make a way. This is our lesson for today. This is instruction for each of us. Raise your hand in praise. Give God the honor and glory due to His name. And YOU and I will see the salvation (Yeshua) of the Lord.

He will move mountains for us. How many of us can join together right now to acknowledge that God has already (previously, at some point in our lives) moved mountains for our benefit. Be assured He has not brought us this far to abandon us.

Deuteronomy 6:6 "Chazak! Be courageous! Do not be afraid or tremble before them. For Adonai your God - He is the One who goes with you. He will not fail you or abandon you." This word is sealed in Hebrews 13:5b "... be content with what you have. For God Himself has said, 'I will never leave you or forsake you'".

Today, as you read this, God is reminding you about His promises. Yehovah Yire (God will see to it). He alone is my provider. Receive His provision in the name of Yeshua.
